Biography
Professor Fang received his BA in Economics from Fudan University in 1993; and MA in Economics from the University of Virginia in 1995. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000. From 2000 to 2007, Professor Fang was on the faculty at the Department of Economics at Yale university, first as an assistant professor and then as an associate professor. From 2007 to 2009, he was an associate professor in Department of Economics at Duke University. He joined the Department of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009, and currently holds the title of the Class of 1965 Term Professor of Economics. He is appointed as the Dean of the School of Entrepreneurship and Management at the ShanghaiTech University from January 2018.
Research Interests
Applied Microeconomic Theory, Empirical Microeconomics; Public Economics and Chinese Economy. Professor Fang was awarded the prestigious Kenneth J. Arrow Award by the International Health Economics Association (iHEA) in 2008. Professor Hanming Fang served as co-editor of top economics journal including the International Economic Review and the Journal of Public Economics, and he also served as an associate editor for numerous journals, including the American Economic Review, the flagship journal of the American Economic Association.
