The first SEMinno Moment was held by School of Entrepreneurship and Management at its lobby on June 1st, which attracted over one hundred faculty members and students.
At the beginning of the SEMinno Moment, Professor Ding Lu, Vice-Dean of SEM, welcomed all participants to this tea party on the Children’s Day. Dr. Haotian Zhou, a professor of SEM, explained the term “SEMinno”, which was a play on the phrase seminal moment, incorporating both the school name “SEM” and the word “innovation”. It thus highlights SEM’s innovative spirit and its mission to launch top-notch innovators into successful entrepreneurs. Dr. Suting Hong shared with the participants the news of the 2018 Santander-ShanghaiTech Summer Workshop on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, “InnoLab: Innovation for Urban Living”, and encouraged students to sign up for the workshop. During the SEMinno Moment, the faculty members and students enjoyed the afternoon tea and chats on academic research, course information, current affairs, and work-study experience.
SEMinno Moment is a tea party hosted by School and Entrepreneurship and Management, aiming at creating a platform for all members of ShanghaiTech to share the latest information about teaching and research at SEM in a free and pleasant way, to enhance the communication on innovative inspirations between faculty members and students from different schools, and to cultivate a culture for innovation and creative research.
According to Professor Ding Lu, SEMinno Moment will be a regular activity to facilitate exchange of information and inspiration for faculty and students of different schools at ShanghaiTech such that research achievements in various fields can be shared.
