Understanding the Chinese Economy
This course will introduce major aspects of the Chinese economy: its institutions, its reforms and transition to market economy, and the country’s economic development since the reforms.
The course aims to help students understand China’s economic reforms, opening up, and development since the 1970s. The economic institutions behind the economic development will be analyzed in details.
After the course, students are expected to come up with their own answers to why China can maintain high growth rate in the past 40 years and why the development is going to be slowed down in the future.
Experimental Economics
Experiments replicate the real environment, which is usually described as abstract assumptions in theoretical analysis, and record the actual decisions made by participants in experiments. This course will by discussing classic experimental research papers introduce the advantage and disadvantage of experiments, the procedure on experimental design, how to implement the experiment in an appropriate manner, and how to conduct statistical analysis of experimental data.
Effective Communication
The Course teaches the basic elements of the communication process. The following elements will be covered during this course: target groups, impact through communication by adding motivational elements to the communication, and the flow of content during the communication process and its bias.
The goal of the course is:
•to increase the awareness about their role and expectations towards them
•to increase the awareness/knowledge of relevant elements of communication
•to increase the competence to communicate more effective with all the relevant groups in their role as a student (professors, other students, parents etc.)
