Business Plan

For an entrepreneur, an effective business plan is the manifestation of a well-thought-out business idea. This course will teach students how to write a good business plan by walking through the entire entrepreneurial process: designing a product, defining customers, identifying and verifying a company’s Core and Value Proposition, creating a business model, demonstrating design and production of the product, and finally, showing the scalability of the idea. This course requires students to do an extensive amount of pre-reading and work outside of class. Students are expected to be divided into teams and work with team members with diverse backgrounds. The course will culminate in a one-week international business plan competition. During the competition, students will need to devote full days and nights to their team. If you can NOT commit to the out-of-class course requirements OR your team, you should not take this class.

InnoLab

This is a project-based course that provides students the opportunity to solve real challenges facing a corporate. Students will work under the supervision of industry executives and the instructor of the course to work on a project of interest to a company. In the process, students will gain and practice knowledge and skills related to important business issues such as research and development, marketing strategies, and interpersonal communication. The output will be in the form of a report detailing the solutions and an oral defense of the project. Students can take the course to satisfy the capstone requirement of the minor.
