
Bio
Yi Chen is an associate professor at the School of Entrepreneurship and Management, ShanghaiTech University. He graduated from the School of Economics of Peking University as an undergraduate, and then went to the University of California, Los Angeles for further study and received his Ph.D. in Economics. His main research areas include labor economics, population economics and development economics. He is currently a Fellow of the Global Labor Organization (GLO) and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics. His research results have been published in American Economic Review, International Economic Review, Journal of Development Economics and other leading academic journals. He has received the young scholars fund (2020-2023) and the excellent young scholars fund (2025-2027) from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has been awarded the 16th Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award (from the Shanghai Government), and the 9th Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research in Colleges and Universities (from the Ministry of Education of China).
